Leveraging your expertise in cloud technologies and best practices, you will contribute to the development of scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure environments while adhering to regulatory requirements and standards.

Location
You’ll be expected to travel to our customer’s site and potentially sites UK wide; working from client/office/home locations as appropriate.
As a Cloud Engineer your key responsibilities will be:
- Cloud Architecture Design: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and design cloud architectures that meet the unique needs of government agencies. This includes selecting appropriate cloud services, defining network configurations, and ensuring compliance with security policies.
- Cloud Implementation and Migration: Lead the implementation of cloud solutions, including provisioning resources, configuring services, and migrating workloads from on-premises environments to the cloud. Ensure smooth transition and minimal disruption to operations.
- Infrastructure Automation: Develop automation scripts and templates to streamline deployment, configuration, and management of cloud resources. Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices to enable consistent and repeatable deployments.
- Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices to safeguard sensitive data and ensure compliance with government regulations such as FedRAMP, FISMA, and HIPAA. Perform regular security assessments, audits, and incident response activities.
- Monitoring and Performance Optimization: Establish monitoring solutions to track the performance and health of cloud infrastructure. Identify areas for optimization and implement strategies to improve scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
- Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Design and implement disaster recovery (DR) solutions to mitigate the impact of service outages and data loss. Conduct regular DR tests and refine procedures to ensure timely recovery in case of emergencies.
- Collaboration and Documentation: Work closely with cross-functional teams including developers, system administrators, and security analysts to achieve project objectives. Document architecture designs, procedures, and configurations to facilitate knowledge sharing and compliance.
- Continuous Learning and Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging cloud technologies, trends, and best practices. Experiment with new tools and techniques to drive innovation and improve efficiency in cloud operations
Knowledge/experience
You will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Proven experience designing, implementing, and managing cloud solutions in public sector environments.
- Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, security principles, and compliance requirements relevant to the public sector.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- Certification in relevant cloud technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert) is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
