Brand and Web Designer
Role overview
Reporting to the Head of Brand & Marketing, you will:
- Own the design and production of marketing assets (brochures, one-pagers, case studies, event collateral, social visuals, internal decks etc).
- Lead the design, build and ongoing optimisation of website pages in line with our brand, messaging and UX best practice.
- Work closely with our Marketing Assistant to ensure visual consistency and high-quality execution across channels and campaigns.
- Create simple motion/animated assets (for social, website, events and presentations) that bring our stories and propositions to life.
- Uphold and evolve the Mercator Digital brand guidelines in every touchpoint.
Key responsibilities
Design & brand
- Design brochures, whitepapers, case studies, sales decks and other collateral from brief to final artwork.
- Create on-brand graphics, diagrams, icons and simple illustrations that clarify complex ideas.
- Produce lightweight animations/motion graphics for campaigns, events and social (e.g. animated banners, short explainers, looping visuals).
- Maintain and refine brand templates for PowerPoint, Word and other internal tools to drive consistency.
- Support internal comms and employer brand with engaging visual assets.
Website
- Design and build new web pages (e.g. case studies, proposition pages, landing pages) using our chosen CMS/site builder.
- Maintain and update existing pages (copy updates, imagery, layout tweaks, navigation changes) to keep content accurate and fresh.
- Ensure pages are visually consistent, accessible and optimised for usability and conversion.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs and briefs into clear page structures and user journeys.
- Implement basic on-page SEO best practice (headings, metadata, alt tags, internal linking) in partnership with the rest of the marketing team.
- Work with internal technical experts and developers when needed on more complex changes or new components.
Collaboration & workflows
- Work closely with the Head of Brand & Marketing to interpret briefs, develop concepts and refine design directions.
- Collaborate with the marketing assistant on campaigns, ensuring creative and web experiences align with plans.
- Manage your own workload, prioritising briefs and communicating timelines clearly to stakeholders.
- Contribute ideas to improve how we work – from templates and design systems to processes and tools.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience in a marketing design or similar role (in-house or agency).
- Strong portfolio showcasing brand-led design across digital and print.
- Proficiency in core design tools (e.g. Figma, Adobe XD, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign or similar).
- Experience designing and building web pages using a CMS or no-code builder (e.g. WordPress, Webflow, Framer, or equivalent).
- Confident in creating and editing PowerPoint or Google Slides presentations with a strong eye for layout and storytelling.
- Strong attention to detail, from typography and spacing through to file naming and version control.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced B2B environment, handling multiple projects and deadlines.
Desirable
- Experience in B2B digital, technology, consultancy or professional services.
- Good understanding of UX basics, responsive design and how users actually interact with marketing sites.
- Basic understanding of HTML/CSS (enough to communicate with developers and troubleshoot).
- Ability to produce simple animations/motion graphics (e.g. After Effects, Canva, or other motion tools).
- Familiarity with marketing tools (email platforms, analytics, social scheduling, etc.).
- Experience using AI tools for design variations, image generation or content adaptation.

- Collaborative and low-ego; happy to work as a team with the Head of Brand & Marketing and the Marketing Assistant, as well as senior stakeholders.
