What does your role entail?
I act as the middle-man between the business and the development team. Translating customer needs into practical solutions.
What does a typical day look like for you?
I work closely with the designers, developers and the management team daily in an agile methodology to monitor our team’s progress. As a Business Analyst, no two days are alike – I work with various teams to ensure consistency across the service, produce clear and actionable user stories for developers and build collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
What sort of clients have you worked with?
I’m currently working with HMRC, where I help deliver solutions that significantly enhance the user experience for their millions of customers.
What’s the best bit about your job?
I’m passionate about improving service by translating customer needs into fully implemented solutions. Being involved from the very beginning, identifying pain points during user research and then seeing the positive impact on their challenges makes me love what I do.
What’s Mercator Digital like to work for?
Mercator feels like a family, they empower you and invest in your growth. I love going into the Mercator office because it gives me the chance to see colleagues beyond my client projects. They genuinely make you feel valued and are committed to your growth. This is shown by the level of support everyone provides and the training opportunities available to help you advance in your career.
Any advice for people wanting to be a Business Analyst?
To be successful in a Business Analyst role my advice would be to ensure you’ve got good organisation, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills. At Mercator, you’ll receive all the support you need whether it’s technical guidance or development in soft skills.
